      As well as all our human cells, we also have loads of bacteria living in us. We have many times more bacterial cells than human cells, and they are very important in keeping us alive. It could be said that we are more bacteria than human, although I wouldn’t. Don’t like the sound of that.

      There are about 300 different types of cell but we are still finding more. All of these cells are specialized for the job they do – for example the sperm cell has a long tail for swimming to the egg.
