• Question: how do you grow brain cells

      Hey! Well you have to start by getting a real brain from somewhere. We use the brains from mice embryos. You mash up the brain so that all the cells get separated out in a solution, from each mouse brain we get about 10 million cells. Then you put a little drop of the cell solution into a dish and give them the things they need to grow – food and heat. The cells just look like little circles to start with but because they come from very young animals they have the ability to regrow! They sprout out long arms called axons and dendrites which connect with other cells to send signals between them. Have you seen the picture of the brain cell on the Zone Home page?
