It is possible for a woman to carry a baby that is not hers. This is called surrogacy, and it can happen when a sperm and egg from a man and a woman are mixed together in a plastic dish, and then put into the womb of another woman, this would be the start of her pregnancy. Many people have had babies this way if they have a problem with their womb. One famous example is Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick had twins to a surrogate mother.
