Both really. In order to look at what we are trying to do, we have to make clones of cells with the important quality that we want. In our case we think we have found a protein that acts like a hook to stop brain cells growing after damage so we have made a new type of cell that has this hoo on it so we can test our theory. Then instead of a new device we will make a sort of biological tool that will block the hook. A bit like if you were to put bluetac on velcro the velcro wouldn’t work anymore
