      Hi Cheechee,

Nice to hear from you again, it was a great chat this morning!

In the lab we do deal with some nasty pathogens, so we have many ways to ensure we keep ourselves safe.

      1) Vaccination; everyone in the lab that deals with dangerous substances has extra vaccinations to minimise the chance of us becoming infected if we did accidentally become exposed to harmful germs.
      2) Protective lab wear; we wear gloves, coats and masks when dealing with dangerous germs
      3) Special equipment; we handle dangerous germs in a biological containment hood, this like a big glass cabinet that sucks air out through a special vent to ensure that the germs don’t come into contact with the area outside the containment hood.

      I hope this helps.

      Michelle
